SUPPORTED ACCOMMODATION

A stable place to live while preparing for what comes next.

Open Home Living provides managed supported accommodation for adults who need housing alongside practical, housing-related support — stability while residents work towards greater confidence, responsibility and independence.

Comfortable communal living room

More than a room.

Supported accommodation combines two important things: a suitable place to live, and support to help sustain it and prepare for the future.

Residents are expected to engage with their accommodation responsibly and participate in agreed support arrangements. In return, we provide a managed environment where residents can receive guidance around the practical issues affecting their housing and independence.

Living with other people

Some Open Home Living accommodation is shared. That means placement decisions need to consider more than whether somebody needs housing. We consider the potential compatibility of residents, identified risks, support requirements, property layout and the impact a proposed placement could have on other people already living in the accommodation. Creating a safe and workable household is an important part of our assessment process.

LIVING WITH OPEN HOME LIVING

A firm but supportive environment.

We recognise that some residents may have experienced homelessness, offending, mental ill health, substance misuse or other significant difficulties. Those circumstances do not remove the need for clear expectations. We aim to balance support with responsibility so that accommodation remains safe for residents, staff, neighbours and the wider community.

Resident responsibilities

  • Treat other residents, staff and neighbours with respect
  • Look after their room and communal areas
  • Report repairs and safety concerns
  • Meet agreed financial responsibilities
  • Avoid behaviour that causes nuisance, harassment or intimidation
  • Follow property and fire-safety requirements
  • Engage with agreed support appointments
  • Tell us about significant changes in their circumstances

Where difficulties arise, our first aim is normally to understand what is happening and whether support can help resolve the issue. Serious or persistent breaches may require formal action.

Locations

Availability varies by current property stock.

Is Open Home Living suitable?

Our accommodation is for adults who need both housing and an appropriate level of support. Every referral is individually assessed. Generally, an applicant will need to be aged 18 or over, have a demonstrable housing need, require housing-related support, have support needs within the scope of our service, present a manageable level of risk, and be suitable for the accommodation available.

A home is only one part of the model.

Residents also receive structured practical support. The accommodation provides stability; the support helps residents work towards greater independence.
